Letter C worksheets and activities
Explore C and c through looking, playful marks and a short shared game. C and c have similar open curves, with the capital usually larger. Trace the curve in the air and stop before joining the ends. Leave the opening visible when you draw; the gap is the feature that helps distinguish this letter from a closed circle. Choose one part of the pack rather than expecting every page to be completed in one sitting.
Letter names and first sounds
A letter name is different from its sound in a word. Tap each separately. The examples show one common sound; letters can have other sounds.
Synthesised British or American pronunciation, selected by the English edition in the header. Accents vary. Follow your school’s sound models and teaching sequence.

What we’re exploring
Recognize capital C and lowercase c, compare their shapes and find them among other printed letters.
A little way to play
- Start with the large C and c models. Say the letter name and invite your child to point to either form.
- Use a finger on the pale tracing models, then offer a pencil if wanted. Follow the child's school formation guidance rather than treating these outlines as stroke instructions.
- Try the letter hunt together. Each cell has a number so a grown-up can check the separate answer guide; the child can point, circle or color a match.
- Draw a wide curved road shaped like C. Move a toy car slowly around it, leaving the gap open. An adult can add a small c road beside it so the two forms can be compared.
Cover most of the letter hunt and offer just two choices. Keep the C / c model visible, and let an adult make the marks while your child points.
Try a little moreCompare C with O and G. O closes the gap; G adds a short section inside the opening. Start with C and O only if three choices feel busy.
For the grown-up
Use cat, cup and car as example words. The letter c is pronounced differently in some other words, so keep this activity about the written shape and follow school guidance for sound teaching. These are original recognition resources, not a school phonics programme or a developmental test.
Answers & naming help

How do I print this?
Choose your vocabulary and paper size, then download the PDF. Print at actual size or 100%. Use the low-ink option for outline activities; color-name cards still need their color to teach the word. Cut-and-stack mini-books are available in the flashcard maker.
